While often associated with treatment for individuals with autism spectrum disorder, the field of behavior analysis has a lot to offer all professionals in the self-management of productive writing schedules. This workshop is designed for students or professionals who find themselves writing assessments, reports, treatment plans, IEP goals, research protocols, manuscripts, reviews, and more. Writing constitutes a large portion of professional correspondence in psychology, and often, its efficiency is not directly trained. In this workshop, you will be provided with ten strategies to improve your own writing efficiency. Join Dr. Fahmie in the exploration and transformation of habits that may lead to missed deadlines, missed opportunities for funding, and overall lack of productivity. Whether you find yourself avoiding writing tasks altogether, or you simply want to use your time more efficiently than you currently do, this workshop is for you!

 

Learning Objectives
Participants will understand the behavioral characteristics of writing
Participants will identify the decisions and behaviors that make their writing more productive
Participants will identify the decisions and behaviors that make their writing less productive
Participants will complete a workbook to guide the initial self-management of a productive writing schedule.

Dr. Tara Fahmie is an assistant professor in the department of psychology at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). Dr. Fahmie earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Florida, where she became inspired by the faculty to pursue a graduate degree in Behavior Analysis. She earned her masters degree from the University of Kansas, under the mentorship of Dr. Gregory Hanley, and her PhD from the University of Florida, under the mentorship of Dr. Brian Iwata. Dr. Fahmie is a BCBA-D and has over 10 years of experience implementing behavior analysis with various populations in clinics, schools, and residential settings. Dr. Fahmie currently conducts research in several preschool classrooms and in collaboration with local autism agencies. She has published on the functional analysis of problem behavior and on the acquisition of social skills in young children. These two initial research interests have led to her emerging passion for research on the prevention of problem behavior. Dr. Fahmie also contributes to the field as a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis’ and as the membership chair of Division 25 of the American Psychological Association.

 

Dr. Fahmie does not receive speaker fees for presenting as part of the ABACLive Cambridge Center

Series. These fees are donated directly to The Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies (TM).

Attendance Codes:

Participants are required to attend the entire webinar.  ABAC presenters embed codes randomly within their webinar. These are not hidden. The codes are read out loud and left on the screen for about 20s. The codes are not case sensitive. You must write them down or other wise record them as participants must submit the codes via our attendance code submission form following the webinar to ensure attendance.

Assessment:

In addition, participants are required to pass a post-test with 80% accuracy.

Other:

The moderator will present a visual model of how to access the post-test, evaluation, and code-submission form at the end of the webinar.

Each of these are formatted as online forms and are available after the live event and for the duration of the recording access period.

Cancellation policy-

If you are unable to attend a webinar, please email Adrienne at adrienne@abacnj.com as soon as you can. We will not accept cancellations within 1 hour of the webinar start time.  If your cancellation is received prior to 1 hour before the event, we are happy to move you into another webinar or issue a refund. Please check make sure you know how long the webinar recording is available for. Most events are recorded and access is granted for up to 5 days. We will no longer offer transfers to other classes if you miss the webinar.

In the rare event ABAC must cancel a webinar due to low enrollment or presenter conflict, an email will be sent to all individuals who have already signed up arranging an transfer to another webinar or a refund.
