Understanding Challenging Behavior Part 1- An Introduction November 18, 2015 am
Understanding Challenging Behavior Part 1- An Introduction November 18, 2015 am
Understanding challenging behavior:  Part 1- An introduction Presenter: Adrienne Fitzer, MA, BCBA Owner and Managing Director of The Applied Behavior Analysis Center 90 minutes- $40 $16 with parent coupon Date: November 18, 2015 Time: 10:30 am EST Children with special needs, whether they have autism, anxiety, down syndrome, or Adhd, will often engage in behavior that makes doing day-to-day things difficult or next to impossible. It can be hard for parents  and teachers to wrap their heads around why kids might hit themselves or others, destroy things, yell, scream, and cry, or simply refuse to do what you have asked them to do. Frustration sets in when what ever you try doesn’t work to stop the behavior from happening again. Parents that have kids that engage in challenging behavior dread taking their kids out of the house, feel like they are walking on eggshells around their kids, and are constantly worrying when the “next time” will be. Teachers find it difficult to teach and are often concerned about how challenging behavior will impact other students. Before you can help your child or student you need to have a better understanding of why challenging behavior occurs.Following this webinar workshop, participants will be able to define challenging behavior, summarize the environmental factors that trigger and  maintain challenging behavior, and describe how challenging behavior is a form of communication. This webinar is a prerequisite for "Understanding Challenging Behavior-Part 2- Figuring out what is going on" and "Understanding Challenging Behavior- Part 3 Interventions"
